What is the significance of ‘JRE for Consumers’
- Oracle Java is free for ‘personal use’
- Consumers are considered private individuals who are using Java for personal use
JRE for Consumers download
- When you click on the JRE for Consumers tab, you are re-directed to a site outside of Oracle.com . You are redirected to java.com
- There is a notice that gives you information about the licensing of Oracle Java. The statement (shown in the picture below) states
- The OTN license is different from earlier Java licenses
- The OTN license permits personal and development use at no cost
- There is a tab saying ‘Download Java’. Below this is a notice that states that you are accepting the OTN agreement for Java when you click on the download button.
